PolyWorks|Inspector(TM) is an advanced software solution supporting 3D dimensional analysis and QA/QC inspection and quality assurance processes. PolyWorks enables precise measurement, dimensional analysis and deviation monitoring. It allows companies to monitor and improve processes for meeting stringent quality standards, eliminating errors at early stages.
PolyWorks Inspector offers a solution to detect deviations in real time and eliminate problems before further stages of production. At PROram, we have proven the effectiveness and quality of this package time and time again. Check out how we do it in an offshore project on Valhall Field platforms
Dimensional analysis in PolyWorks Inspector
PolyWorks Inspector uses advanced technologies such as the ability to perform 3D scanning directly in the software and analysis of point clouds and triangle meshes to accurately measure component dimensions. The software identifies deviations from CAD nominals and provides the data needed to make corrections.

PolyWorks integrates measurement data with CAD models so that dimensional matches can be quickly compared and corrections made where needed. Importantly, users can monitor inspection results in real time, allowing quick decisions to be made. This is particularly important, for example, in the welding inspections we perform on an offshore project, building structures for Valhall Field platforms.
The software generates detailed reports that support decision-making processes at various stages of production.
The PolyWorks software allows processes to be adapted to high quality requirements. The automation of measurements and reporting of results are used by quality control systems and facilitate compliance with stringent industry standards.
The software eliminates the need for lengthy data processing, thereby increasing the efficiency of operations in QA/QC processes.
Types of measurement devices compatible with PolyWorks
PolyWorks is compatible with a wide range of measurement devices. The software is a universal platform for different measurement technologies. Here are the main categories of devices that work with PolyWorks:
- Measuring arms, enable precise 3D measurements in both contact and scanning modes.
- Coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), are used for accurate measurement and inspection of smaller and more accuracy-intensive components.
- Laser scanners, used for non-contact 3D data acquisition by scanning the surface of objects.
- Structured light scanners, use stripe projection technology to record the geometry of objects.
- Laser trackers, used to measure larger workpieces while maintaining relatively high accuracy.
PolyWorks supports multiple file formats. This enables integration with many CAD systems and measuring devices.
The HEXAGON devices we use at PROram are fully compatible with the PolyWorks software, using the accuracy and reliability of digital measurement to optimise production processes.
How does PolyWorks Inspector fit into modern QA/QC processes?
The software’s advanced features, such as real-time dimensional inspection and reporting, support productivity, high product quality and process improvement.

PolyWorks supports a variety of measuring devices, automating inspections and eliminating the risk of human error. With features such as deviation analysis against CAD models and statistical process control (SPC), users can quickly identify quality problems and monitor processes. Interactive reporting and the ability to easily share inspection results support operational efficiency and improve overall production quality.
